After the ride visit transfer with minivan to the nice village of Fiumalbo
Fiumalbo is a perfect example of a medieval village, chosen for its artistic and architectural charm “CITTA’D’ARTE”. The territory of the municipality has a notable morphological variety, with an altitude ranging from 800 meters up to 2165 of Mount Cimone. The richness of the water assures a luxuriant nature, from the woods of oaks to chestnut groves, to beech woods, up to the prairies. The name of the village, located at a height of 970 meters, alludes to the waters of the two streams that embrace it. Its origins are very old: it is documented in 1038 its donation to the bishop of Modena by Bonifacio di toscana, father of Matilde di Canossa. The historic center still preserves its medieval architecture; the thirteenth-century church of S. Bartolomeo, strongly modified over the centuries, is its urban fulcrum. Like the other churches of Fiumalbo, it has an organ. Equally important are the Renaissance Oratory of S. Rocco, which stands at the gates of the town, with frescoed interiors, the Oratory of the Immaculate and that of Santa Caterina, where there is also the recent inauguration of the Museum of Sacred Art. Back to Abetone
4 th day – Scaffaiolo and Doganaccia
Meeting with the guide and ride to Cutigliano about 15 km with a negative vertical drop of 800 metres. Cableway to Doganaccia and ride to Scaffaiolo Lake and Capanna Tassoni.
